Anthem Blue Cross introduces Senior Dental and Vision in Ohio

Anthem Blue Cross has introduced a dental and vision plan for seniors 65 years and older in the State of Ohio with an effective date of April 1, 2011.   The plan, to be marketed under the name Anthem Extras, comes with a choice of three benefits levels.  The Standard level has a monthly premium of $20 and will cover two preventive dental visits per year at no cost, a vision exam every year for $20 and frames and lenses every two years for $20.  The top level, Premium Plus, includes a full dental plan and only $10 copayments for both vision exams and  vision hardware.  Premium Plus has a monthly premium of $43.51 and also includes coverage for emergency dental treatment worldwide.

Recognizing that seniors suffering from diabetes are more likely to suffer from gum disease, all the Anthem Extras plans will include an additional cleaning or periodontal maintenance visit per year at no cost for members who have diabetes.

These new plans are available to all residents of Ohio who are age 65 and over.
